The main contractor of this development went into receivership and Boulter Mossman helped renegotiate and appoint a new contractor.
The new buildings replace the original Broadlaw Walk shopping centre, built in Fareham in the mid 1960’s. The new development comprising 56 apartments, six commercial units and community facilities, is constructed with a steel frame and concrete transition slab supporting a timber frame structure above. The scheme achieves Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, helped by the installation of a communal hot water and heating system , fed by a CHP boiler. The offset power generated is used to feed communal electrical systems and reduce overall running costs and emissions.
The development has completely regenerated the community with the shops seeing a notable increase in business and a revived sense of community.
